Delhi Police said that the fire services officers received a distress call at 2:15 AM regarding the blaze in the JJ cluster, following which three fire tenders were dispatched to the scene.
"The flames were brought under control by 2:50 AM," a fire official said, adding that "at 3:10 AM, station officer Feroz confirmed that three charred bodies were recovered from inside the hut.
The deceased have been identified as Jaggi Kumar (34), Shyam Singh (36) and Jitender Kumar (35), all residents of Auraiya district in Uttar Pradesh. They worked as labourers in Delhi, news agency PTI reported.

One gas cylinder also burst in the fire at the JJ cluster. A police statement said that the victims died due to asphyxiation. "The deceased and another labourer, all working with the Indraprastha Gas Limited (IGL), lived in the makeshift tent located near a DDA plot on Manglam Road," the statement said.
A survivor said that around 2:00 AM Shyam Singh woke up and noticed the fire. He tried to unlock the door but failed. When the fire started intensifying, the survivor managed to escape, but the remaining three got trapped and could not escape the tent. They later succumbed to the flames, the statement said.
The Police statement also said that a gas cylinder inside the tent also exploded, which further fueled the fire. "While the authorities suspect that the diesel container might have triggered the fire, a probe is on to ascertain the exact cause of the blaze," the statement said, as reported by PTI.
