Techie Hangs Himself To Death In Noida Hotel While Woman Friend Was In Washroom

The woman, who had checked in the Noida hotel with the techie, told the police she found the man hanging from a ceiling fan when she came out of the washroom.

A software engineer allegedly died by suicide in a hotel room in Uttar Pradesh's Noida on Thursday night. What's even more shocking is that the techie took the drastic step while the woman friend with whom he had checked into the hotel was in the washroom.

The 38-year-old software engineer, identified as Umesh Kumar, was a resident of Awas Vikas Colony in Uttar Pradesh's Hathras. He had checked into Wamson Hotel in Noida sector-27 with his female friend on Thursday, April 10, NDTV reported.

The woman, a resident of UP's Mathura, told police she found Kumar hanging from a ceiling fan when she came out of the washroom. Upon seeing the body, she screamed loudly, which alerted the hotel staff. The two of them had also brought a dog with them.

According to several media reports, they allegedly had a fight before the techie died by suicide. Kumar was married, but had been living separately from his wife due to a marital dispute. The couple had filed for a divorce, preliminary probe revealed.

A team of officials reached the hotel after the police was informed about the incident. The body has been taken into custody and sent for post-mortem. Police found no suicide note in the room.

The woman who had checked in with Kumar is being questioned by the Kotwali sector-20 police.
