Determined to gain of approval of a man's family for wedding, Abhi Prabha acquired a police uniform through her friend Prithviraj and began posing as an officer.
Tamil Nadu news: In Kanyakumari district, a woman impersonating a police officer was arrested by Vadasseri police after she allegedly duped a beauty parlor owner. The accused, identified as 34-year-old Abhi Prabha from Vadugapatti in Theni district, reportedly visited a beauty parlor in Nagercoil, refused to pay for the services received, and claimed to be an assistant inspector with Vadasseri police.
The incident occurred when Abhi Prabha, dressed in a police uniform, threatened the parlour owner before fleeing the scene. The suspicious parlor owner reported the incident, prompting the Vadasseri police to register a case and investigate. During the probe, police discovered that Abhi Prabha was not an officer and had been impersonating one.
Further inquiries revealed details about Abhi Prabha’s background. She was previously married to a man named Murukan in Theni district and had a son from the marriage, which ended after six years. Following her divorce, she worked as a supervisor in a private company in Chennai, where she befriended a colleague, Prithviraj.
Her impersonation scheme started after she met a man named Shiva on a train from Thiruvananthapuram. Shiva mentioned that his parents would only accept a police officer as his wife. Determined to gain Shiva’s family's approval, Abhi Prabha acquired a police uniform through her friend Prithviraj and began posing as an officer. She took numerous photos and videos in uniform at various police stations across Chennai, Tirunelveli, and Kanyakumari, which she shared with Shiva.
However, the day before her intended wedding to Shiva, she was caught impersonating an officer at the beauty parlor in Nagercoil. Authorities seized her mobile phone, containing more photos and videos of her in uniform.
She was held and subsequently remanded to judicial custody.
