AIADMK Agrees To Attend Stalin-Led All-Party Meeting On Delimitation: 'Will Make Our Stand Clear'

The AIADMK said it will attend an all-party meeting on delimitation, emphasising the preservation of Tamil Nadu's parliamentary seats.

All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazagham (AIADMK) will attend the all-party meeting on delimitation that will be held on March 5, said party leader Sellur Raju.

The former Chief Minister said that the party maintains that the number of parliamentary seats should not be reduced in Tamil Nadu under any circumstances, adding that it will make its stand clear in the meeting.

"The Edappadi Palaniswami-led alliance will win the 2026 elections. We will bring together all those who want to join our alliance and face the elections unitedly. People do not want the DMK to come back to power," he said.

Spreading 'Imaginary Fear': BJP

The development comes after Tamil Nadu Bharatiya Janata Party chief K Annamalai said that his party will not attend the meeting. He also blamed Chief Minister MK Stalin for attempting to spread "imaginary fears" over the issue.

In a letter to Stalin, Annamalai said the saffron party firmly believed that he had misconstrued the delimitation exercise and had convened the all-party meeting to "spread your imaginary fears and deliberately lie about it," even before any official statement was made.

The BJP leader referred to Union Home Minister Amit Shah's statement that no state would be "undermined" and the exercise shall be on a pro-rata basis.

"You must understand that the announcement for the delimitation exercise will be made at an appropriate time by the delimitation commission and it is disheartening to notice that you have still not learnt lessons from the lies you spread when one nation one election was announced and later when those got debunked," Annamalai said in the letter.

He further said that the INDIA bloc's campaign line had been "Jitne Abadhi Utni Haq," and (Rights proportional to the population) in 2023 and PM Narendra Modi had hit back saying it would hurt the southern states which effectively implemented population control measures.
