4 Minors Among 8 Arrested In Sikkim For Rape Of 13-Year-Old Girl

The girl is currently under the care of the Child Welfare Committee, receiving medical attention and counseling. A case has also been filed under relevant sections of the BNS and the POCSO Act.

Eight individuals, including four minors, were arrested for reportedly raping a 13-year-old girl over several months in the Gyalshing district of Sikkim. The action was taken against the accused based on a complaint filed by the Child Welfare Committee on Friday after the school of the girl informed police about her condition.

Police told news agency PTI that the girl, who always remained sick and lowly in class, has informed that a woman from her vicinity always sought her help for the domestic work. Later, the woman reportedly compelled her into sexual acts, including with her husband.

Authorities further uncovered that two additional men had been involved, with the girl allegedly being coerced into sexual acts with them in exchange for money.

The survivor also identified four boys who had reportedly been involved in sexually assaulting her over the past year. Based on her testimony, police apprehended the woman, her husband, and the two men while the four minors were taken into custody.

The girl is currently under the care of the Child Welfare Committee, receiving medical attention and counseling.

A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, police confirmed, adding that the investigation is ongoing.
