WATCH: Rahul, Tejashwi, Owaisi Join Candle Marches Over Pahalgam Attack; Revanth Calls To ‘Divide Pak Into 2 Parts’

The march began at the Congress party’s former headquarters at 24 Akbar Road and proceeded to Tees January Marg in Lutyens’ Delhi, with Rahul Gandhi walking alongside senior leaders.

Lok Sabha LoP and Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, along with other Congress leaders and workers, on Friday, joined a candle march to pay homage to the Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives and injured several.

Amid the march, Rahul Gandhi also paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Gandhi Smriti in Delhi.

The march began at the Congress party’s former headquarters at 24 Akbar Road and proceeded to Tees January Marg in Lutyens’ Delhi, with Rahul Gandhi walking alongside senior leaders KC Venugopal and Ajay Maken.

It concluded at Birla House, the site where Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948. "The government hasn't done anything for the last 10 years. Even today, all they care about is another election in Bihar," said Sunita, one of the marchers, PTI reported.

Entire Opposition Was With Govt: Tejashwi Yadav

Meanwhile, RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, who also led the candlelight on Fridays, said the entire opposition was with the government in the aftermath of the Pahalgam terror attack.

He advocated for the "strongest possible punishment" to those behind the dastardly attack. "The issue involves national security, and hence we do not want to do politics over it. The Mahagathbandhan is taking out similar candle marches across the state to affirm that we are with those who lost their near and dear ones," Yadav said, PTI reported.

The former deputy CM has marched from Income Tax Roundabout to Dak Bungalow Crossing, where he was joined by party colleagues Sanjay Yadav and Abdul Bari Siddiqui, along with state Congress president Rajesh Ram and state secretary of CPI-ML (Liberation) Kunal.

While addressing the gathering, while chants of "Jai Hind", he said, "We had yesterday told the government, at the all-party meeting in Delhi, that the entire nation, including the opposition, was with it in this hour of crisis."

"We are with the government in whatever steps it decides to take in view of the Pahalgam attack. The attackers must be tracked down and given the strongest possible punishment. Their backers must also get a befitting reply," he added.

Himachal Pradesh CM Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu also said that his party is with the government to give a befitting reply to the attackers. "Congress party is standing with the government to give a befitting reply to those forces who attack the unity of the nation...The Congress party sacrificed two Prime Ministers for the nation's unity...The Congress party will support every government decision in the nation's best interests, " he said, ANI reported.

Telangana CM Revanth Reddy also backed his support during the candlelight march, saying that the entire nation stands united in support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He was joined by AIMIM chief Asaduddin Owais with other opposition leaders.

"We all will together support the country's Prime Minister, Narendra Modi. When China attacked our country in 1967, Indira Gandhi gave a befitting reply. After that, in 1971, Pakistan attacked the country, Indira Gandhi gave a befitting reply and divided the country into two parts," he said, ANI reported.

"Today, we have to take action against Pakistan. We have to give a befitting reply. 140 crore Indians are with you. Divide Pakistan into two parts and merge PoK with India, we are all with you," he added.

During the candlelight march, Congress leader Pawan Khera told ANI, "This is not just a candlelight rally, this is the entire country coming together, Hindus, Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists, everybody coming together. Because anybody who tries to give such an experience to India or who tries to harm India...should see this...how India can come together in solidarity with each other."
