Wife Dared Delhi Bakery Owner To 'Die By Suicide', 'Hacked' Social Media Account, Claims Family
Khurana's family claimed his wife demanded a share of the bakery, hacked his social media, and made derogatory remarks.
The bakery owner in Delhi, Puneet Khurana, who hanged himself at his home in north Delhi's Model Town was facing mental torture and taunts from his estranged wife and her family, claimed Khurana's family.
The wife, Manika Pahwa, also kept demanding her share of their bakery business from him, which prompted Khurana to take the extreme step, the family claimed further reported India Today.
The victim's family said he was "upset with his wife" whom he got married to in 2016. The couple co-owned the For God's Cake bakery as well as another eatery called Woodbox Cafe which winded up business a while ago.
Manika, her parents, and she sisted forced Khuran, stressed him out and "instigated him by saying, 'You can't do anything, die by suicide if you dare'," Khurana's sister told ANI.
She also hacked Khurana's social media account and misbehaved with people through his Instagram profile, the sister added.
"There is a video recording shot by him for around 59 minutes on his phone. In that video, Puneet mentioned details of harassment he faced from his wife. We presented and played the recording to the police, and they did not give us a copy of it when we asked for it. They have seized it," she said.
Manika's family threatened to throw our parents out of the house and dared Puneet to open his shop again, the sister said, adding "They kept on abusing and pressured him mentally."
On the bakery dispute between the couple, the victim's sister said in the first notion of divorce that was signed between the two, it was decided that Khurana would manage For God's Cake bakery and Manisha would get Woodbox Cafe.
"They used to run the bakery earlier in partnership. But amid the divorce proceedings, she (Pahwa) kept calling him and demanded her share. She kept on saying she would not leave her share," said the sister.
