Power Grid Corporation Senior Manager Caught Red-Handed Taking Bribe Of Rs 2.4 Lakh
The CBI arrested a PGCIL general manager for taking a bribe to clear bills of power supply contracts.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has arrested a senior general manager of Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (PGCIL) and Deputy General Manager (DGM) of a Mumbai-based private company red-handedly taking a bribe. The CBI took this action under a planned trap in Sikar, Rajasthan.
PGCIL is a central public sector undertaking (PSU) that takes care of power transmission across the country.
PGCIL awards power project contracts to many private companies. In this case, the PGCIL official, Uday Kumar, had allegedly demanded a bribe to clear the bills related to the contract of the private company.
How Was The Bribery Exposed?
The CBI had received a complaint that the PGCIL's Uday Kumar, in connivance with the officials of the private company, was demanding bribes to clear the bills related to a contract. On March 19, the CBI registered a case against the senior general manager, the four representatives of the private company, and others.
According to the CBI, after talks between the accused, it was decided that the bribe would be handed over in Sikar on March 19. Based on this information, the CBI laid a trap. As soon as the DGM of the private company handed over a bribe of Rs 2.4 lakh to Kumar, the CBI team caught both red-handed.
After the arrest, the CBI raided the residences and offices of the accused in Sikar, Jaipur, and Mohali. Many important documents, digital devices and other objectionable material were recovered during the raids.
In recent months, CBI has exposed many corruption cases in various ministries and PSUs. CBI officials said the investigation of this case will be focused on uncovering more links and tracking down others involved in bribery.
