Political Blame-Game Begins As Saif Ali Khan's Attacker Identified As Bangladeshi National

The arrest of a suspected Bangladeshi national, for allegedly attacking Saif Ali Khan, has sparked political accusations, with BJP leaders blaming AAP and TMC govt for allowing illegal immigration.

Mumbai Police on Sunday morning said that the accused man arrested for allegedly attacking actor Saif Ali Khan's at the latter's residence in Mumbai is likely to be a Bangladeshi national.

Addressing the media this morning, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Dixit Gedam said that the intruder is identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad and he was arrested from Thane.

(DCP) Dixit Gedam said, "The investigation has revealed that the accused could be from Bangladesh. He does not have any Indian document." He added that the police has recovered some items from the accused that suggest he is from Bangladesh, and the matter is being investigated.

As per the senior cop, the accused changed his name to Bijoy Das, and have been living in Mumbai for about four months, as reported by NDTV.

Taking a potshot on AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal, ahead of Delhi Assembly Elections, Delhi BJP President Virendraa Sachdeva said that BJP has been saying that Bangladeshi Rohingya is a threat to the security of Delhi and the country.

As quoted by ANI, Sachdeva said,"We have been saying from the first day that Bangladeshi Rohingya is a threat to the security of Delhi and the country...Arvind Kejriwal should tell why he works to save Rohingyas and Bangladeshis. You should now answer why Arvind Kejriwal works to nurture criminals who are a threat to the country's security."

Maharashtra Congress chief spokesperson, Atul Londhe Patil, while questioning the working of BJP-led central government on this issue, raised concern about how these peole reach Maharashtra after crossing 5-6 states.

While raising fingers on Bengal government over this issue, Senior BJP leader Kailash Vijayvargiya said, as quoted by ANI, "This is a matter of concern. Many Bangladeshis are being smuggled into India by the Bengal government. Their Aadhar cards are being made in Hindu names. After coming here, they are committing crimes. Right now cybercrime is increasing, which is being committed by the people of Bangladesh. Criminal activities by Bangladeshi people are a matter of concern. The government has taken a strict decision on this... Necessary action needs to be taken on this."
