Bengaluru: Police Constable Dies By Suicide, Alleges Torture And Harassment By Wife, Father-In-Law
Police head constable claimed in the note that on December 12, his father-in-law had threatened him at 7:26 pm, saying he should either die or be killed so his daughter could live peacefully.
A 33-year-old police head constable died by suicide in Bengaluru, the capital city of Karnataka on Friday night, reportedly jumping in front of a train in Byappanahalli, police stated on Saturday.
Police said the incident took place after the police head constable identified as, Tippanna, posted at the Hulimavu police station, returned home after his shift over. It is speculated that a "heated argument" with his wife, led him to take the extreme step.
They further added that Tippanna, left a one-page death note in Kannada, alleging torture and harassment by his wife and father-in-law.
In the alleged note, he claimed that on December 12, his father-in-law had threatened him at 7:26 pm, saying he should either die or be killed so his daughter could live peacefully.
Police Launch Probe
Police said Tippanna, who married in 2021 and had no children, worked his 8 am to 2 pm shift on the day of the incident before returning home. After a "dispute" with his wife, he left the house and took his own life.
Railway authorities alerted the police, who dispatched a team to the scene. Based on the death note and initial investigation, a case has been registered under various sections of the BNS, including abetment of suicide and criminal intimidation, against Tippanna's wife and father-in-law.
A senior police officer stated that further investigation is ongoing. This incident closely follows the case of a Bengaluru techie who recently died by suicide, alleging harassment by his estranged wife and her family.
He left a 24-page suicide note outlining the emotional turmoil caused by marital problems and numerous cases filed against him by his wife. A case of abetment to suicide has been filed against his wife, Nikita Singhania, and her family members based on a complaint lodged by Subhash's brother.
Recently, Nikita Singhania, her mother, and her brother were issued a notice to record their statements. The notice was posted at their residence in Jaunpur, Uttar Pradesh.
