The 34-year-old techie ended his life on Monday in Bengaluru, alleging harassment at the hands of his estranged wife and her family. A case of abetment to suicide was registered against his wife Nikita Singhania, her mother Nisha, father Anurag and uncle Sushil.
Several videos have surfaced on social media showing them leaving their home around midnight. When the media reached the house of Nikita's parents in Jaunpur on Wednesday, her brother and mother had refused to talk to them.
Jaunpur SP said that there was a routine level of police deployment in the Khowa Mandi area in the district as required for law and order maintenance.
Meanwhile, Kotwali police station in-charge Inspector Mithilesh Mishra said police have no orders to arrest Nisha Singhania and others, or prevent them from leaving their home, or place them under house arrest.
While her family lives in Jaunpur, Nikita Singhania stays in Delhi with her son and works there, according to her relatives. She got married to Subhash in April 2019 and in 2022 she lodged an FIR against husband Subhash and in-laws, accusing them of dowry harassment.
Nikita's uncle Sushil Kumar, who is also mentioned in the FIR, claimed himself innocent and said that the allegations levelled by Atul Subhash in his suicide note are baseless. He further said that neither he nor any member of his family was present at the scene of the incident and added that Nikita Singhania had all the answers.
The family of Atul Subhash has demanded justice for him and strict action against his harassers so that his soul can rest in peace.
Subhash's brother Bikas said, "I want my brother to get justice. I want this country to have a legal process through which even men can get justice. I want strict action against those sitting on a legal chair and doing corruption because if this continues, how will people expect justice."
