Safi Ali Khan was repeatedly stabbed with a knife by an intruder inside his 12th floor apartment in Bandra in the early hours of Thursday.

Less than 24 hours after Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was stabbed in his Bandra apartment, a CCTV footage has surfaced of the alleged attacker fleeing from the staircase of the building following the attack on Thursday.

The alleged attacker, who attacked Khan inside his 12th floor apartment in upscale Bandra in the early hours on Thursday, can be seen exiting through the staircase of the the building on the sixth floor.

The staircase at the back has several blindspots, which are hidden from the CCTV cameras as well. However, the cops managed to get his image from the footage captured on the CCTV cameras while the alleged attacker was escaping the building.

The intruder gained entry to Saif's home through the emergency fire exit, which was open. The burglar was likely unaware that it was the actors' home. The thief then reached the fire exit through the staircase at the back of the building.

According to senior police officials, the intruder was unaware of the owner of the house and his intention was burglary in a high-end building. However, after entering the building, the alleged attacker entered the maid's room first. The maid then started screaming after which Saif came to her room.

During the chaos, Saif Ali Khan tried to overpower the intruder, leading to a scuffle following which the intruder attacked the actor with a knife. The intruder, who fled after the attack, is yet to be caught.

Khan's domestic help, who raised alarm first, also sustained a minor injury to her hand during the scuffle. She later lodged a police complaint. The attacker has been booked under several sections of the BNS, including Section 311, 312, 331(4), 331(6) and 331(7).
