Passenger's Bidi Causes Fire On Daund-Pune Shuttle Train: Video

Pune News: A minor fire broke out in the lavatory of the Daund-Pune shuttle train on Monday morning, triggering panic among passengers. The incident occurred around 8 am near Yevat in Pune district, according to officials from the Daund railway police station.

The blaze, which was quickly extinguished, did not result in any injuries. Officials said the coach where the fire erupted had only a few passengers at the time. Visuals showed a thick blanket of smoke engulfing the area soon after the fire broke out.

Man Smoked Bidi On Daund-Pune Train

A 55-year-old passenger from Madhya Pradesh was detained in connection with the incident. According to preliminary investigations, the man allegedly smoked a bidi and disposed of it in the lavatory’s dustbin, which contained paper and other flammable trash, igniting the fire.

“Smoke began billowing from the lavatory, leading to panic among those onboard,” a railway police official said. “Thankfully, the situation was brought under control promptly.”

Railway authorities and the police are continuing their investigation and have urged passengers to refrain from smoking or engaging in any activity that could endanger lives on board.
