Sikkim:
In Sikkim, a landslide triggered by intense rain struck a military camp in Chhaten, near Lachen town, on Sunday evening. Three army personnel were confirmed dead, and six others remain missing. Four soldiers were rescued with minor injuries. Efforts are underway to evacuate over a thousand stranded tourists.
Assam Floods:
Assam continues to face worsening flood conditions, with at least 10 people reported dead due to the seasonal rains. Rising water levels and persistent downpours have been forecast across the state, with the IMD predicting heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in isolated areas.
Mizoram Landslides:
In Mizoram, torrential rain triggered landslides, mudflows, and rockfalls across Aizawl district, prompting the closure of all schools on June 2 for safety reasons. The decision followed IMD alerts and consultations with disaster management authorities.
Arunachal Pradesh Rescue:
The Indian Air Force conducted a crucial rescue operation on Monday morning in Arunachal Pradesh’s Lower Dibang Valley, airlifting 14 people stranded by flooding in the Bomjir River. The rescue was carried out using a Mi-17 helicopter.
Delhi Weather:
Delhi has been placed under a yellow alert for Monday and Tuesday, with forecasts of thunderstorms, lightning, and gusty winds. Monday’s maximum temperature was 36.1°C, nearly 4 degrees below normal, while the minimum was 22.6°C. The capital is expected to see cloudy skies and intermittent rain or thunderstorms over the next two days.

IMD on Sunday predicted that a new western disturbance will be active over Rajasthan from June 2 to June 4, as per the news agency ANI. It added that there might be a light to moderate rain, along with moderate thunderstorms, at isolated places in Kota, Udaipur, and Bharatpur divisions on Sunday.
