Noida: Man Arrested For Threatening To Kill CM Yogi; Had Pistol, Objectionable Pics

The police arrested the man after they saw a video of him threatening to kill a leader "holding a constitutional post". Ataul said many things to spoil communal harmony, the officials added.

A man has been arrested from Noida for threatening to kill Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. A pistol, a knife and some objectionable pictures were recovered from the accused who is a resident of West Bengal’s Malda, PTI reported quoting police officials.

Sheikh Ataul's family came to India from Bangladesh many years ago, Media in-charge of Police Commissioner Lakshmi Singh said.

The police arrested the man after they saw a video of him threatening to kill a leader "holding a constitutional post". In the one-minute video, Ataul said many things to spoil communal harmony and incite violence, the officials added.

Woman Threatened To Kill CM Adityanath Just Like Baba Siddique

In November, the chief minister received a death threat from a Mumbai-based woman. The Mumbai traffic police had received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number. In the message, the warning was issued that if Adityanath did not step down as Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister within 10 days, he would face the same fate as NCP leader Baba Siddique, who was recently shot dead.

Upon investigation, police traced the message back to Fatima Khan, who was then arrested from Ulhasnagar through a joint effort by the ATS and police. Khan suffered from mental health issues and lived in the Ulhasnagar area of the neighbouring Thane district of Maharashtra with her family members. Her father is in the timber business, the official said.

The Mumbai Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS) in a combined operation with the Ulhasnagar police traced the woman and apprehended her, the official said. Further investigation was on into the matter, the official added.  Former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique was shot dead in Mumbai's Bandra area on October 12.

Security measures were increased as Adityanath was scheduled to visit Maharashtra to campaign for the November 20 assembly elections. In 2024, CM Adityanath received many death threats. The UP Police have arrested several dangerous smugglers from various locations. Threats have been made against him repeatedly through Facebook, X, and direct messages to the police.
