Nitin Gadkari Slams Caste-Based Politics, Advocates for Equality: 'Jo Karege Jaat Ki Baat...'

Nitin Gadkari denounced caste-based politics, emphasising equality and individual merit over superficial factors. He condemned those who prioritised their own welfare in politics and highlighted the transformative power of education in fostering a just and developed society.

Union Minister Nitin Gadkari slammed the caste-based politics in the country and asserted the importance of equality. Speaking at the convocation ceremony of the Central India Group of Institutions in Nagpur, Gadkari said that the worth of an individual should be determined by their qualities rather than caste, religion, language, and gender.

“I have told 50,000 people, ‘Jo karega jaat ki baat, uske kass ke maarunga laat (I will kick those hard who talk about caste). My friends told me that I may have caused self-harm by saying this. But I am not concerned about it; one does not lose his life if he loses elections. I will stick to my principles,” the Bharatiya Janata Party leader said.

He also added that our culture never said that first my welfare should be done, or the welfare of my should be prioritised, or the welfare of my friends should be prioritised. But, in politics, some people seek to ensure the welfare of their sons, he further said.

Gadkari also said doctor Abdul Kalam became a nuclear scientist; he achieved so much that his name reached everyone across the world.

“I believe that a person does not become great by caste, sect, religion, language, or sex, but by qualities. That is why we will not discriminate against anyone based on caste, sect, religion, language, or sex," Gadkari added.

Gadkari asserted that education was very important and does not just benefit you or your family but develops the society and the nation.

“Knowledge is power and imbibing this power is your mission" Gadkari further said.
