9-Year-Old Girl Dies After Collapsing During Lunch Break; Doctors Suspect Cardiac Arrest
Prachi had reportedly missed school for two to three days due to a cold, but returned on Monday in seemingly good health.

A nine-year-old student of Class 4 died after collapsing during a lunch break at her school in Rajasthan's Sikar district. Prachi Kumawat collapsed during lunch break and was later declared dead after a suspected cardiac arrest.
According to school authorities, Prachi sat down to eat lunch during the break but collapsed almost immediately after opening her tiffin. Teachers rushed to her aid and took her to the nearby community health centre (CHC) in Danta.
Doctors Suspect Cardiac Arrest
“She was unconscious, gasping, and had no pulse or blood pressure. Her heart had stopped beating,” said Dr Subhash Verma, who attended to her at the CHC. "We gave her CPR, oxygen, and emergency medication, but she didn’t respond. Once we realised her condition wasn’t improving, we called for an ambulance and referred her to a hospital in Sikar," the doctor was quoted as saying by NDTV.
Prachi had reportedly missed school for two to three days due to a cold, but returned on Monday in seemingly good health. “She participated in morning prayers and assembly. There were no warning signs,” said principal Nand Kishore Tiwari.
Dr Verma stressed that sudden cardiac arrest in children is rare and could be linked to congenital heart disease or an undetected issue with the heart's electrical system. “It should be investigated,” he added, noting that early CPR can be crucial in such cases.
Dr R.K. Jangid, the in-charge at the CHC, confirmed that medical staff attempted resuscitation efforts for nearly an hour and a half. “She briefly responded to the treatment, so we sent her in an ambulance to the district hospital,” he said. However, she could not be saved.
The grieving family opted not to conduct a post-mortem. Doctors believe a cardiac arrest was most likely, but without an autopsy, other possibilities remain open.
In a haunting detail, Prachi’s last recorded video at school showed her smiling and introducing herself confidently on camera, moments before the tragic incident unfolded.
