A theft bid was thwarted at Marathi filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi thanks to her pet cat. The incident was caught in a CCTV camera where the intruder could be seen breaking into the sixth-floor apartment through an open window.

In the footage, the thief could be seen sneaking into the house and scaling a drainage pipe at around 3 am. Wearing a t-shirt and shorts, the thief rummaged through the house, checking nook and corner for valuables and expensive goods.

He encountered a dog in one of the rooms but continued his search, the CCTV footage showed which was shared by filmmaker Ashoke Pandit on his Instagram account.

The thief then entered the room where Swapna's elderly and ailing mother and her caretaker were sleeping. He then tip-toed into another room where her daughter and son-in-law were sleeping and stole a wallet containing Rs 6,000.

"Presenting the real crime patrol. This video is for all of us, especially senior citizens who live alone," Pandit said in his Instagram post.

"You will be shocked to see how a thief climbs the 6th floor of the residence of noted filmmaker Swapna Waghmare Joshi situated at (Lokhandwala complex Andheri West Mumbai ) with the help of the pipes and jumps out the same way when he is noticed by the member of the house. These days the security guards are either busy watching mobiles or sleeping. Share this video as much as you can," Pandit wrote while sharing the post.
