Following the incident, Bharatiya Janata Party leader Omprakash Kushwaha, who was leading the procession submitted a complaint with the police. The complainant registered the complaint against Vicky Khan, Amin Khan, Guddu Khan and 15-20 other people.
Based on Kushwaha's complaint, the police lodged an FIR under sections 109, 296, 324(4), 125, 191 (2-3), 190, 115 (2) of the Bhartiya Nyay Sanhita and nine people including the main accused have been arrested.
District Magistrate Kishor Kumar Kunyal said that the FIR has been registered against four accused, adding that the situation has been brought under control.
Clashes Between Two Groups
The incident took place on Saturday when the procession for Hanuman Jayanti, like every year began at 4 pm from Shivaji Nagar Mata Mandir. Around 100 people were attending the procession with music being played on the DJ.
At around 7:45 pm, the procession reached the Colonelganj mosque where Vicky Pathan along with two to three companions came and stopped the DJ, as per the complaint.
When the procession members protested the move, stones started pelting them from the mosque and adjoining houses.
Stone-Pelting In Response To 'Provocation'
Atish Farooq, the mosque's cleric, however, claimed that the stone pelting was triggered after some individuals in the procession provoked those present near the mosque, reported India Today.
The Muslim side alleged the administration of taking one-sided action by registering the FIR. The cleric also claimed that the first stone came from the Hindu locality, and no stones were thrown from the mosque.
