Video: Newly Inaugurated Worli Metro Station In Mumbai Flooded Amid Heavy Rain

The Mumbai Metro Line 3 from Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli became operational on May 10.

The newly inaugurated Worli underground metro station of Aqua line 3 in Mumbai was flooded after heavy overnight rainfall, as the Monsoon arrived early in the financial capital. The city has been experiencing heavy rainfall since the previous night, resulting in waterlogging and traffic congestion in several parts of the city.

Several videos of the Worli underground metro station have surfaced on social media, showing that incessant rain has submerged the platform, which resulted in the suspension of connectivity on this line. In the video, it is also seen that the platform has been completely flooded with muddy water, and passengers are wading through the flooded water.

According to a report by NDTV, the Mumbai Metro Line 3 from Bandra-Kurla Complex (BKC) to Acharya Atre Chowk in Worli became operational on May 10. The flooding of the newly inaugurated transport facility has raised several questions.

Parts Of Mumbai's Kemps Corner Road Collapsed

In a separate incident, a section of Kemps Corner Road in South Mumbai collapsed, leading to restricted traffic flow. Kemps Corner, an upscale area in the city, lies at the junction of Breach Candy, Warden Road, Pedder Road, and Nepean Sea Road.

Traffic has been halted near Warden Collection for vehicles heading from Kemps Corner towards Mukesh Chowk. Officials have directed vehicles to take a U-turn and return towards the Kemps Corner flyover, with no access allowed towards Nepean Road. Officials are on-site, and commuters have been advised to use alternative routes.

Meanwhile, the southwest monsoon officially arrived in Maharashtra on Sunday, marking its earliest onset in the state in 35 years, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The weather office forecasted heavy to very heavy rain along the west coast, including Kerala, Karnataka, coastal Maharashtra, and Goa, for the coming week. Mumbai has been experiencing light to moderate showers since early morning.
