Maharashtra’s 'Osmanabad' Railways Station Is Now ‘Dharashiv' Station After Proposal Gets Nod
The Railway officials confirmed that the new station name “Dharashiv” and its code “DRSV” have received approval from the Indian Railway Conference Association (IRCA).

The Indian Railways has officially changed the name of 'Osmanabad' Railway Station in Maharashtra to 'Dharashiv' Railway Station on Friday. The new name and code of the station have been approved by the Indian Railway Conference Association (IRCA).
The Railway officials confirmed that the new station name “Dharashiv” and its code “DRSV” have received approval from the Indian Railway Conference Association (IRCA). Earlier, the station operated under the name Osmanabad with the code UMD.
As per the update, the station’s name will be displayed and written as follows: In Devanagari script (Marathi): धाराशिव, In Devanagari script (Hindi): धाराशिव, and In Roman script (English): DHARASHIV.
Dharashiv Named After 8th-Century Cave
All official railway records, signage, announcements, and passenger information systems will be updated to reflect the new name. To implement the update, the Mumbai PRS (Passenger Reservation System) will remain temporarily closed from 11:45 PM on May 31, 2025, to 1:30 AM on June 1, 2025, for the duration of 1 hour and 45 minutes.
The technical update for the station’s name change will be carried out during this period of time. In response, the Railways has urged passengers to take note of the change and complete any reservation-related work before this window to avoid inconvenience.
As per the news agency PTI report, Osmanabad/Usmanabad was named after a 20th-century ruler of the Hyderabad's princely state. Meanwhile, Dharashiv was named after an 8th-century cave complex in the area.
