'Portfolio Distribution Can Take Place By...': Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis Reveals Time Frame

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced portfolio allocation for his ministry would occur by Sunday morning after the winter session of the legislature.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis announced that the portfolio allocation for his ministry would either occur later in the day or on Sunday. He made this statement during a press conference held at the end of the one-week-long winter session of the Maharashtra legislature. Fadnavis clarified that the distribution of portfolios could be completed by tonight or tomorrow morning.

"Portfolio distribution can take place by tonight or tomorrow morning," Fadnavis remarked, as quoted by news agency PTI.

Earlier, Minister Bharat Gogawale had anticipated that the allocation of portfolios for the Mahayuti government would take place during the day. On December 5, Fadnavis, along with his deputies Eknath Shinde and Ajit Pawar, were sworn in, and 39 ministers were inducted before the Winter Session.

Hours after the Sunday oath ceremony, Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis during a press conference, stated that six ministers out of the 39 inducted are state ministers and that a clear picture regarding portfolio allotment will emerge in the next two days.

The Maharashtra CM also emphasised that the state government will undertake a performance audit of every minister to assess if they are working up to the mark. "If we find that a minister is not performing up to the mark, then we will rethink about that particular minister," he remarked.

"39 leaders have taken oath today, 6 of them are state ministers. In two days, it will be cleared who will be given which portfolio. Discussion on the speech of the Governor in this session. 20 bills will come in this session. The opposition gave a letter. A paragraph on EVM has been added to the letter of the last session. The letter has been answered earlier as well, it will be answered as many times as questions are asked. I want to tell them that EVM means Every Vote for Maharashtra," Fadnavis told the media.

However, the portfolio allocation for the Mahayuti government has yet to be completed. The Mahayuti, which comprises the BJP, Shiv Sena, and Nationalist Congress Party, secured a resounding victory in the November 20 assembly elections by securing 230 out of 288 seats.
