Bihar: Train Engine Derails And Lands In Field, No Injuries Reported

According to NDTV, the engine, which had no coaches attached, was en route to Gaya on a loop line when control was lost and it went off the tracks.

A train engine derailed and fell into a field at Raghunathpur village in Gaya district of Bihar on Friday evening. No injuries were reported in the accident, which took place between the Wazirganj station and Kolhna halt on Friday evening. 

According to NDTV, the engine, which had no coaches attached, was en route to Gaya on a loop line when control was lost and it went off the tracks.

Local residents gathered around the scene, puzzled by the sight of the engine in the middle of the field. Photos of the incident circulated online, sparking memes that joked about trains being used to plough fields.

A railway relief team reached the site soon after the incident.

Sabarmati Express Derailed Near Kanpur In August

A similar incident of train derailment came to light on August 17, near the Kanpur railway station of Uttar Pradesh, where at least 20 coaches of the Sabarmati Express passenger train derailed while it was en route from Varanasi to Gujarat's Ahmedabad. 

According to North Central Railway, Sabarmati Express 19168 derailed after hitting a boulder. No casualty was reported in the incident. 

"The driver of the Sabarmati Express train informed us that the train was hit by an external object. That is a matter of investigation... Passengers have already left for their destinations..." North Central Railway GM Upendra Chandra Joshi said. "The restoration process is underway... Only one line has been affected which is being restored."
