‘KTR Proposed BRS-BJP Merge To Stop...’: BJP MP Claims; Ex-Telangana Minister Responds
BJP MP CM Ramesh accused BRS leader KTR of offering a BRS-BJP merger. Ramesh claimed KTR fears a BJP-TDP alliance in Telangana, prompting the accusations.

A new political row has erupted in Telangana after Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Chintakunta Munuswamy Ramesh accused Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president Kalvakuntla Taraka Rama Rao (KTR) of seeking a merger with the BJP in exchange for stopping ongoing probes by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) against his sister K Kavitha and other BRS leaders.
“For the last few days, KTR has been alleging against me. He said that there was a nexus between the BJP and Congress to secure (government) contract. You are alleging that Rithwik Projects belongs to CM Ramesh, but I am not part of the company since I resigned 15 years ago,” Ramesh told ANI.
He further claimed that KTR had approached him in Delhi with a merger proposal when Kavitha was in jail. “Long ago, when Kavitha was in jail, KTR had come to my house in Delhi with the proposal to merge BRS with BJP and, in return, sought that no cases be registered and an investigation be made into the scams allegedly committed by the BRS government. I have video proof of the Telangana leader’s visit to my house,” Ramesh alleged. He dared KTR to “swear by God” and confirm if he had made such a proposal.
According to NDTV, Ramesh challenged KTR, saying, “Did Kalvakuntla Tarka Rama Rao forget that he came to my house in Delhi? It’s recorded in CCTV - and I can share it with the media… Didn’t he ask for ED, CBI probes to be stopped against Kavitha and others and asked to talk to HM (Home Minister)? Didn’t he say that if the investigation is stopped, BRS would merge with BJP?”
KTR Denies Allegations, Calls BJP Claims ‘Baseless’
KTR has strongly rejected these allegations, asserting that the BRS will “never merge with any other party.” He emphasised that BRS was born out of the struggle for Telangana’s statehood and remains focused on the welfare of its people.
The BRS leader also accused both the Congress and the BJP of floating such claims to distract the public, especially when, according to him, their own alleged corrupt activities are being exposed, NDTV reported.
KTR Fears BJP And TDP Will Go Together In Telangana: C M Ramesh
KTR, on his part, has alleged a secret understanding between Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy and Ramesh, alleging that large government contracts in Telangana have been awarded to Andhra Pradesh-based contractors. He also challenged both Ramesh and Revanth Reddy to engage in a public debate on the matter.
Ramesh dismissed these accusations, stating that the claim regarding Telangana CM awarding him nomination works worth ₹1,650 crore was “completely false”. He clarified, “Kalvakuntla Tarka Rama Rao is speaking without knowing the facts. Several big companies like L&T, MEIL, Rithwik competed for Greenfield road. As per the rules, the tender was awarded to Ritwik company,” adding that while the firm belongs to his son, he himself has no role in it.
Ramesh also revealed that KTR had told him BRS was losing leaders because of community-based alignments, saying, “When I asked why they’re letting go of Tummala, he said Kammas are with Chandrababu Naidu, they are against us and Reddys are with Revanth. We are siding with Jagan.”
The BJP MP claimed that KTR fears a possible BJP-Telugu Desam Party (TDP) alliance in Telangana. “He fears that in future if BJP and TDP go together in Telangana, Bharat Rashtra Samithi would be washed away, that’s why he is making baseless allegations,” Ramesh said, as quoted by NDTV.
