18 Minor Boys Arrested For Alleged Gangrape Of 5 Minor Tribal Girls In Jharkhand

The police confirmed that 5 girls were returning home from a wedding ceremony near the Karo River, traveling from Ulihatu to Nichitpur, when they were stopped by a group of 18 minor boys along the way.

18 minor boys arrested in the alleged gangrape of 5 minor tribal girls in the Khunti district of Jharkhand, police said on Tuesday, news agency ANI reported.

Reacting to the incident, Anurag Gupta, DGP, Jharkhand, told ANI, " 18 boys have been arrested. All the boys are minors...all the rape survivor girls, in this case, they are being provided all the govt facilities. Among the 18 boys arrested, those who are above 16, will be tried as adults so that in our society, boys wouldn't do such dirty acts..."

According to a report by Mathrubhumi, the police confirmed that five girls were returning home from a wedding ceremony near the Karo River, traveling from Ulihatu to Nichitpur, when they were stopped by a group of 18 minor boys along the way.  

The boys issued threats, warning the girls to remain silent about the incident. However, despite the intimidation, the girls managed to reach home and informed their families on Saturday. With the support of villagers, the families reported the matter to the police, resulting in an FIR being registered based on the statements of three of the victims.

Woman Gangraped On Hotel Terrace In Bengaluru

A woman was allegedly gang-raped on the terrace of a private hotel in Bengaluru's Koramangala, said the police on Friday. Three of the accused have been arrested in connection with the incident which took place around midnight on Thursday, they added. 

The victim, who is married, works in catering services and serves food at events, the police said, reported PTI. 

The victim filed a complaint with the police in which she alleged that she was waiting at Jyothi Nivas College junction when four men in their 20s approached her and began a conversation. 

The accused befriended the 33-year-old woman and invited her to dinner at a hotel, the police said, adding that after dinner, they allegedly made sexual advances towards her and gang-raped her on the terrace of the hotel.

The men threatened the victim not to disclose the incident to anyone and released her around 6 am on Friday, said a senior police officer. The woman told her ordeal to her husband after reaching home and informed the police, he added. According to police, all the accused hail from another state and work in hotels.
