NIA Chargesheets 3 In Punjab Police Post Grenade Attack; Khalistani Group's Canada Link Under Scanner
The NIA filed charges against three men for a 2024 grenade attack on a Punjab police post, linking it to the Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF). The accused, supported by foreign handlers, received funds and explosives from abroad.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has filed a detailed chargesheet in connection with the grenade attack that took place at a police post in Punjab’s SBS Nagar district in 2024. The case, which was handed over to the agency from Punjab Police in March, has been linked to an extensive terror plot allegedly orchestrated by the banned Khalistan Zindabad Force (KZF).
The anti-terror agency named three individuals — Yugpreet Singh alias Yuvi Nihung, Jaskaran Singh alias Shah, and Harjot Singh alias Jot Hundal — all residents of Rahon village in SBS Nagar. The trio has been charged under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, Explosive Substances Act, and other relevant laws, the NIA said in an official statement on Sunday.

According to the agency, the grenade assault was carried out by the three accused during the night of 1–2 December 2024, with logistical and financial support from handlers based abroad. The accused had received the explosive device from their foreign contacts in November 2024, prior to the attack on the Asron police post.
KZF Chief in UK Under Scanner, Canada-Based Financial Trail Uncovered
The NIA is also investigating Ranjit Singh alias Neeta, the chief of KZF and a Designated Individual Terrorist (DIT), along with another key operative, Jagjit Singh Lahiri alias Jagga alias Hari Singh, who is currently believed to be residing in the United Kingdom.
“Jagga had recruited Yugpreet Singh through an acquaintance in the UK. Along with other KZF terrorists and operatives, Jagga had radicalised Yugpreet and handled him via encrypted messaging applications,” the agency revealed in its statement.
The probe also uncovered a complex financial trail involving Canada-based entities. “Jagga had also provided Yugpreet with over Rs 4.36 lakh of terror funds through a complex chain of Canada-based entities, who have also been identified and examined,” the NIA said. Yugpreet, in turn, recruited the other two accused for executing the attack.
In a related operation, the agency recently conducted coordinated searches at 15 different locations across Punjab and Haryana. These raids were linked to another grenade attack on a police post in Amritsar in January 2025. Several digital devices and incriminating documents were reportedly recovered during these searches, according to officials.
