Kerala: Class 11 Student Stabs Junior Inside School Bus In Nettayam

The incident came to light after other students of the bus immediately raised a hue and cry from the moving vehicle while it was near Malamukku of Vattiyoorkavu.

A Class 11 student of a private school in Nettayam allegedly stabbed a Class 9 student inside a school bus on Wednesday. The victim, who is undergoing treatment at the Government Medical College Hospital, is reportedly in stable condition.

According to police officials, as per the Hindu, the incident took place inside the bus belonging to a Nettayam-based private institution.

The two students reportedly argued over an issue at school. Following this, as soon as they boarded the bus, the argument turned into a fistfight in which the senior in a fit of rage reportedly stabbed the junior student, reported Mathrubhumi. In the blow, it is reported that the student suffered three stab injuries to the face, neck, and head, reported Manorama.

The incident came to light after other students of the bus immediately raised a hue and cry from the moving vehicle while it was near Malamukku of Vattiyoorkavu. An eyewitness told Manorama that the senior threw the weapon out of the bus window immediately after the incident. However, the other students recovered it and submitted it to the police.

Yet, the motive behind the attack is yet to be ascertained. The accused, a Class 11 student, was taken into custody and is currently being held at the Vattiyoorkavu Police Station for further questioning.

The incident has sent shockwaves through the school community.

This incident comes in the wake of a similar case reported last year in Assam’s Sivasagar district, where a Class 11 student allegedly stabbed his chemistry teacher, Rajesh Baruah Bejawada (55), to death inside a classroom. The 16-year-old, who was reportedly reprimanded for poor academic performance, was detained and interrogated by authorities.

The latest school bus stabbing incident has raised concerns over student violence and safety within educational institutions. Authorities are investigating the circumstances that led to the attack.
