A nurse in Karnataka's Belagavi was attacked by a man inside a private hospital after she reportedly denied his marriage proposal. The incident was captured in a CCTV footage that went viral on social media platforms on Thursday.
According to PTI, the incident took place on October 30 and was captured on the CCTV camera of the hospital. The man who was seen attacking the nurse with a machete, hiding in his bag, was identified as Prakash Jadhav.
In the video clip, the person could be seen entering the hospital and at the reception counter, he caught hold of the nurse and attacked her with the machete for allegedly refusing his romantic advances.
The nurse was treated in the hospital for her injuries while the suspect was arrested in the case.
Jadhav was a neighbour of the nurse, as per the police. He had been harassing the woman for a while, persistently pressuring her to marry him but she rejected her proposal every time.
Upset over repeatedly being rejected, Jadhav later approached her father with the proposal but was again rejected. The nurse's father also warned the accused to stay away from his daughter.
Traumatised and stressed, the nurse's father died after the attack incident. "A case was registered against Prakash Jadhav and he was arrested in connection with the incident," a senior police officer said.
