Jaipur: Youth Congress Workers Lathicharged, Water Cannons Deployed Amid Bid To Gherao Rajasthan CM Residence

During the 'Naukri Do, Nasha Nahi' protest by the Youth Congress workers, the police used water canons and lathi charged them to stop them from proceeding towards CM's residence in Civil Lines.

A score of youth Congress workers on Saturday gathered to stage protest against the BJP-led state government in Rajasthan against the issue of unemployment, drug addiction, and MSP. The congress workers had planned to gherao CM Bhajanlal Sharma's residence in Jaipur over the issue. The demonstration was named 'Naukri Do, Nasha Nahi' campaign.

During the protest, the police used water canons and lathicharged workers to stop them from proceeding towards CM's residence in Civil Lines. Former Deputy CM Sachin Pilot and State President Govind Singh Dotasara also joined the protest at Shahid Smarak in the pink city.

State President of Youth Congress Rajasthan Abhimanyu Poonia, AICC Secretary Chiranjeevi Rao, Executive State President of Youth Congress Rajasthan Yashveer, Sudhendra Mund, and MLAs Mukesh Bhakar, Ramnivas Gavadia, and Manish Yadav were also present on the spot.

Meanwhile, National President of Indian Youth Congress Uday Bhanu Chib, who was detained by the Assam police on Friday, also attended the protest in Jaipur today.

During the protest, he said: "We are soldiers of Rahul Gandhi ji. We are not going to be afraid. The more the BJP government tries to suppress us, the more we will come back with double the strength. Every youth of the country and Youth Congress members will come out on the streets as protectors of the Constitution and will not let the Constitution be harmed."

Youth Congress workers who were protesting against the remarks made by Amit Shah on BR Ambedkar, were also detained.

Sachin Pilot Slams Bhajanlal Sharma's Govt Over Unemployment

Addressing the workers from Shahid Smarak, Sachin Pilot slammed the BJP-led government in Rajasthan over failing to provide employment to the youth of the state despite being in power for 12 months.

"It has been one year since the Rajasthan Assembly elections. Recently, the (state) government celebrated the completion of one year and PM Modi came here. Many people made various promises, but it is unfortunate that the (state) government did not do anything for employment opportunities," he said.

"The promises made to the youth before the elections have been forgotten and only politics has been done. Lakhs and crores of educated unemployed youth are wandering from door to door across the state. This government has done nothing to improve their future. Therefore, Youth Congress has become the voice of the youth of the entire state and has awakened the government," Pilot added.
