The officer, a native of Haryana, got married on April 16 and hosted a reception two days later. He had planned a short Kashmir trip while he was on leave.

An Indian Navy officer who had gone to Kashmir just after his wedding is among the victims of the terror attack in Pahalgam. Lieutenant Vinay Narwal had joined the forces two years ago and was posted in Kochi, ANI quoted Defence officials.

Lieutenant Vinay Narwal, a native of Haryana, got married on April 16 and hosted a reception two days later. He had planned a short Kashmir trip while he was on leave. There was no information available about his wife.

One of his neighbours, Naresh Bansal, said, "He was married 4 days ago. Everybody was happy. We have received the information that he was killed by terrorists, and he died on the spot. He was an officer in the Navy."

Terrorists opened fire at a famed meadow near Kashmir's Pahalgam town on Tuesday, killing 26 people, mostly tourists, in what is the deadliest attack in the Valley since the Pulwama strike in 2019.

The victims included two foreigners and two locals.

Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday said he had spoken with Home Minister Amit Shah, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Congress's J&K unit president Tariq Karra about the horrific Pahalgam terror attack to get an update on the situation.

Gandhi asserted the families of victims deserve justice and our fullest support. Spoke with HM Amit Shah, J&K CM Omar Abdullah, and J&K PCC President Tariq Karra about the horrific Pahalgam terror attack.
