Heavy Traffic Alert In Delhi Today, Avoid These Routes

The Delhi Traffic Police advisory notes that movement on these roads will be heavily curtailed for a brief period, and alternative routes should be considered for a smoother travel experience.

Central Delhi is set to experience temporary traffic restrictions today, June 2, as the Delhi Traffic Police imposes short-term closures across several key routes. The measures are being put in place due to unspecified exigencies in the area, with the police urging residents and commuters to steer clear of the affected zones during the morning hours.

According to the advisory issued by the Delhi Traffic Police, several high-traffic corridors will be impacted by the temporary restrictions. These include both main carriageways and adjoining service roads in the central part of the city. Specifically, commuters should avoid the following stretches:

IP Marg

ITO Crossing

Vikas Marg

MGM IP Flyover

DDU Marg

BSZ Marg (from W Point to A Point up to Delhi Gate)

The advisory notes that movement on these roads will be heavily curtailed for a brief period, and alternative routes should be considered for a smoother travel experience.

Timing Of Restrictions

The restrictions are scheduled to be enforced from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM. During this two-hour window, traffic will either be fully closed or significantly diverted along the affected corridors. Authorities have not disclosed the specific cause for the exigency but stress the need for cooperation from the public to ensure safety and minimise disruption.

In a message posted on X, the Delhi Traffic Police stated, "On 02.06.25, Due to exigencies, traffic restrictions & diversions will be in place in both the carriageways and service roads around IP Marg, ITO crossing, Vikas Marg, MGM IP flyover, DDU Marg & BSZ Marg from W point to A Point upto Delhi Gate. Commuters are advised to avoid these routes from 10.30 AM to 12:30 PM and use alternative roads for a hassle-free journey."

The advisory aims to preempt potential gridlocks and ensure smoother mobility for those travelling in or around the affected areas.

Commuters are encouraged to stay updated via official traffic handles and news sources and are advised to factor in extra travel time this morning if movement through central Delhi is unavoidable.
