Gujarat: Greed For Insurance Money Pushes Man To Stage His Death By Killing Friend
In Gujarat, Hasmukh Dhanja faked his death by murdering his friend Sandeep Goswami to claim life insurance. A minor was also involved in this alleged crime.
In an attempt to get life insurance claim, a man from Gujarat faked his own death by allegedly killing his friend and set the body on fire in Gujarat's Gondla town.
As reported by The Times of India, the accused Hasmukh Dhanja, who is believed to be in mid-forties, was thought to be charred to death on December 25 in Mota Mahika village. However, the investigation revealed that Dhanja is alive, while his friend Sandeep Goswami (40), the real victim, was allegedly murdered by the accused to get insurance money and pay-off a significant amount to clear his mounting debt.
To kill Goswami, Dhanja took the help of a minor boy. Later, he placed the victim's belongings like footwear, mobile and purse near to his dead body, in order to make people believe that he was the victim.
After being informed about the half-burned body of his brother, Hitesh, the accused's brother, called the police and told them that he has found his brother's belongings and believed that his brother was killed.
While on the other hand, Gayatri, Goswami's wife, told the police that Dhanja and her husband were supposed to go to Mumbai for a business purpose, for which her husband Goswami got a call from Dhanja on December 25.
When Gayatri called her husband the same evening, he told her wife that he, Dhanja and one other person had come to Mota Mahika. Later, Goswami's phone was switched-off.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (Gondal) K G Zala said that, after scanning the site where the body was found, investiagtors got to know that three people came to the murder spot. Among it, one died and another was out of reach. The third person, a minor boy, who was later located, revealed everything.
As per the police, the minor told them that he and Dhanja first strangled Goswami and killed him. Later, they sprinkled petrol on Goswami's body and set it on fire. Zala added that it is believed that this murder was committed to get the insurance money, however, the real reason will be known after Dhanja's arrest.
