UP Man Tied To Pole, Beaten Up After Being Mistaken For 'Thief' At Wedding In Deoria
Police arrived at the scene after being alerted and found the man badly injured. He was taken to the local police station, where his wounds were treated.
A man mistakenly accused of theft, was brutally beaten on camera during a wedding procession in Deoria district of Uttar Pradesh on Wednesday night (November 27). The video of the incident went viral on social media.
According to a report by NDTV, the incident occurred in the Tarkulwa village of the Deoria district, where a wedding party from Gorakhpur had arrived at a local marriage hall. Amidst this, one of the attendees, heavily intoxicated, wandered away from the group and became lost.

Around midnight, the man knocked on the door of a house. Mistaking him for a thief, the residents, already on edge from a recent theft that took place previous day in the neighbourhood, raised an alarm shouting "thief, thief."
A crowd quickly gathered, tied the man to an electric pole, and began beating him with kicks and punches while questioning him. Despite his protests, the assault continued. Several bystanders recorded the violent scene on their phones, and the footage soon went viral on social media.
Police arrived at the scene after being alerted and found the man badly injured. He was taken to the local police station, where his wounds were treated. The next morning, his family came to collect him and carried him to the home.
Thief Falls Unconscious After Mob Chased Him For Theft In West Bengal
In a separate incident on November 22, a thief in West Bengal's Hooghly district was admitted to a hospital after he fell unconscious as people chased him, reported India Today quoting police sources. The thief, along with an accomplice, stole utensils, a stove, and a gas cylinder from a temple in the Chuchura area of the Hooghly district but was caught red-handed in the act.
While the accomplice managed to flee the site, the locals chased the thief only to be surprised after seeing him trembling as he fell to the ground in an unconscious state. The locals informed the police about the unusual turn of events and took the unconscious thief to a nearby hospital for treatment.
