Heat Likely To Sear Delhi-NCR By Holi, But Can Residents Expect Rain Relief?

Delhi's Weather forecast: The infamous Delhi heat could begin to trouble residents soon as temperatures are likely to rise over the next week.

Delhi Weather Update: Residents of the national capital could soon begin to face the heat — quite literally. Despite strong cold winds blowing in Delhi-NCR in the last couple of days, the temperature here could reach 35 degrees Celsius over the next week. There is no possibility of rain during this period.

According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the maximum temperature on Friday was 29.5 degrees, which was 1.1 degrees above normal, while the minimum temperature was 10.2 degrees, which was 3.8 degrees below normal. The humidity in the air ranged from 24 to 90 percent.

According to the IMD, the sky will be clear in Delhi on Saturday, March 8. The maximum temperature could reach up to 31 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature is likely to hover around 12 degrees Celsius. The IMD said that between March 9 and 13, the maximum temperature could soar up to 35 degrees Celsius and the minimum could rise up to 19 degrees Celsius. During this time, there may be partly cloudy skies.

Temperature Set To Rise Rapidly In Delhi-NCR

According to private weather forecasting agency Skymet, the temperature will rise rapidly in Delhi NCR. The impact of the heat will be felt throughout the day, especially during the afternoon. A Western Disturbance will reach the hills of North India on March 9. Before that, there is a possibility of a cyclonic system forming over western Rajasthan on March 8. Due to this, the wind direction will change in Delhi.

AQI 'Poor' in Delhi

According to the Early Warning System, at 5:30 AM on Saturday, the air quality was recorded in the 'poor' category and the Air Quality Index (AQI) was logged at 175. Between zero and 50, AQI is considered 'good', 51 to 100 'satisfactory', 101 to 200 'moderate', 201 to 300 'poor', 301 to 400 'very poor' and between 401 and 500 in the 'severe' category.
