New Year 2025: DMRC Revises Exit Plan For Rajiv Chowk, Only THESE Two Gates To Be Closed After 8 PM Today

In the previous notification issued on Monday, the DMRC had said that people will not be allowed to exit from Rajiv Chowk metro station from 8 PM onwards.

The Delhi Metro Railway Corporation (DMRC) on Tuesday issued a fresh notification regarding the operational timings of the Rajiv Chowk metro station on the New Year's eve. It said that all exits at Rajiv Chowk station will remain open for commuters on December 31, except gate numbers 5 and 6.

In the previous notification issued on Monday, the DMRC had said that people will not be allowed to exit from Rajiv Chowk metro station from 8 PM onwards.

However, on Tuesday, it revised this as per instructions received from police authorities. "As per the latest instructions received from the Police authorities, Rajiv Chowk Metro station will remain open for passengers till the end of services tonight, i.e, 31st December 2024, except Gate nos. 5 and 6," the DMRC notification stated.

"This is in modification of the earlier notification issued yesterday as per which Rajiv Chowk station was to be closed for passenger operations tonight from 8 PM onwards," it added.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Traffic Police has issued an advisory for traffic arrangements around Saket malls in view of the heavy footfall being anticipted. It stated that specific roads will be closed and diversions will be in place from Tuesday evening onwards for proper management at Press Enclave road and internal roads of Saket and Pushp Vihar.

All medians and cuts between Sheikh Sarai and Hauz Rani will remain closed and heavy vehicles and DTC and cluster buses will not be allowed on Press Enclave Road.

The alernate routes suggested by the Delhi Police for the commuters in the area are:

  • From Chirag Delhi to Qutub Minar via Press Enclave Road: Traffic will be diverted to Khanpur Red Light T Point via MB Road to Mehrauli.

  • From IIT Flyover to PTS to Press Enclave Road: Traffic will be diverted to continue on Aurobindo Marg towards Mehrauli, then use TB Hospital Road Red Light to Lado Sarai via MB Road.

The police have also urged people to remain patient and observe traffic rules and follow directions of traffic personnel.
