Declared Dead By Doctors, Maharashtra Man 'Comes Back To Life' After Ambulance Hits Speed Breaker
The incident unfolded on December 16 in the Maharashtra city where Pandurang Ulpe, a resident of Kasaba-Bawada, had suffered a heart attack and was rushed to a hospital.
While speed breakers are often a source of trouble for commuters, it turned into a miracle for a Maharashtra man, presumed dead by doctors.
The 65-year-old man in Kolhapur "came back to life" after an ambulance carrying his 'lifeless body' hit a speed breaker.
The incident unfolded on December 16 in the Maharashtra city where Pandurang Ulpe, a resident of Kasaba-Bawada, had suffered a heart attack and was rushed to a hospital.
The private hospital declared him dead. An ambulance then began the journey with his “body” from the hospital to his home, where neighbours and relatives had gathered upon hearing the news of his demise, and were preparing for his last rites.
However, when the ambulance carrying the body drove over a speed breaker, the family noticed that Ulpe's fingers moved.
“When we were bringing his “body” home from the hospital, the ambulance passed over a speed breaker and we noticed that there was a movement in his fingers,” his wife said.
He was immediately taken back to another hospital. He was admitted into the ICU and underwent angioplasty.
Ulpe was finally discharged on Monday, a fortnight after the ambulance passed over the speed breaker.
"I had come home from a walk and was sitting after sipping tea. I felt dizzy and breathless. I went to the bathroom and vomited. I don’t remember what happened afterwards, including who took me to the hospital," Pandurang Ulpe told news agency PTI.
The hospital, which declared Ulpe dead, is yet to issue a statement regarding the incident.
