Chennai Power Shutdown: TANGEDCO has announced a power shutdown in multiple areas of Chennai on Saturday, February 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Chennai Power Shutdown: Residents in several areas of Chennai are set to experience temporary power outages on Saturday (February 15) as electricity authorities carry out essential maintenance and infrastructure upgrade works. The Tamil Nadu Generation and Distribution Corporation Limited (TANGEDCO) and also Bengaluru Electricity Supply Company Limited (BESCOM) have announced scheduled power cuts to facilitate these activities.

Chennai Power Shutdown Details

TANGEDCO has announced a power shutdown in multiple areas of Chennai on Saturday, February 10, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The outage is necessary to perform maintenance works, and power supply will be restored before 2 p.m. if the work is completed earlier. The affected areas, as per DT Next, include:

Ambattur: Prince Apartment, Ganesh Street, Nageshwara 3rd Cross Street, Chinna Colony, Periya Colony, PKM Road.

East Mogappair: Srinivasa Nagar, Bakkiathammal Nagar, Mohanram Nagar, Bharathidasan Nagar, Kongu Nagar, VGP Nagar, Panneer Nagar, Periyar Main Road, Olympic Colony, Akshaya Colony, Kamarajar Street.

Red Hills: MGR Nagar, Church Street, Kamarajar Nagar, Nethaji Nagar, Muthumariamman Street, Asai Thambi Street, Muvendhar Street, Alamaram Area, Gandhi Nagar.

Bengaluru Power Outage Details

In Bengaluru, BESCOM has announced intermittent power cuts in several areas until February 18 as part of the ongoing Atal Bhujal Project, which involves critical infrastructure upgrades in the BESCOM city subdivision, Part 1. The outages will occur on February 7, 9, 11, 13, 15, and 17 in the following areas: Hanumantapura, Kuvempu Nagar, Adarsha Nagar, Anetota, Jagannathapura, Sharadadevi Nagar, Ganesh Nagar, and Nirvani Layout.

Why the Shutdowns?

The power cuts are part of routine maintenance and infrastructure upgrades aimed at improving the reliability and efficiency of the power supply. While the outages may cause temporary inconvenience, they are essential for ensuring long-term benefits, including reduced power failures and enhanced service quality.
