Chennai Power Cut On September 20, 2025: Over 80 Localities To Face Five-Hour Outage

A power cut is set to be experienced in Chennai in areas including Guindy, Tambaram, Avadi, Alwarthiru Nagar, Sembium, and Egmore, covering residential streets, commercial hubs, and industrial zones.

Chennai Power Cut On September 20, 2025: Chennai is set to face a power shutdown across more than 80 localities on Saturday, September 20, 2025. The five-hour outage, scheduled from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM, is being implemented to carry out essential maintenance works on the city’s electricity infrastructure.

The affected areas include Guindy, Tambaram, Avadi, Alwarthiru Nagar, Sembium, and Egmore, covering residential streets, commercial hubs, and industrial zones. Power supply will be restored earlier if the maintenance work is completed ahead of schedule.

  • Guindy (26 localities/streets): Labour Colony, Industrial Estate, T.S, Mini, Balaji Nagar, Nagireddythottam, Ekkattuthangal Gandhi Nagar Main Road, Sardar Colony, J.N. Salai, Kalaimagal Nagar, Achuthan Nagar 1st Main Road, Arulayampettai (South & North Phase), Muthuraman Street, Ganapathy Colony, Tiny Sector, Lazar Street, and others.
  • Tambaram (1 locality): MEPZ.
  • Avadi (8 localities): Green Field, Somasundaram Avenue, Venkatachalam Nagar, Kamalam Nagar, Lalithambal Nagar, Annai Therasa Nagar, Venkateswara Nagar, Oragadam Society.
  • Alwarthiru Nagar (5 localities): Lakshmi Nagar, Radha Avenue, AKR Nagar, Radha Nagar, Velan Nagar (5th to 9th Streets).
  • Sembium & Egmore (combined 40+ localities/streets): Simpson Group of Companies, Hosur Garden, IPL Company, Bimetal Bearing, TAFE Company, Teachers Colony, Santhosh Nagar, Venus Nagar, Kadapa Road, Sarathi Nagar, Kalaimagal Nagar, Villivakkam Road, Mugambigai Nagar, Hutkinson Road, Singer Street, Subbaya Street, Baracks Road, Sydenhams Road, Karpoora Muthali Street, Thiruvenkadam Street, Matukkara Veera Pathran Street, Katur Sadayappan Street, Muthu Gramani Street, Church Road, EVK Sampath Road, Jermiah Road, PH Road, Kellys Road, Telephone Exchange, Balfour Road, Damodaran Street, Branson Garden Street, Vengatapathy Street, Halleys Road, Air India Colony, Sundarlal North Avenue, Orms Road, Luthern Garden Police Quarters, Vasu Street, Raja Rathinam Street, Dr Muniappa Road, Ega Theater, SI Quarters, KG Road, Uma Complex.

During a power shutdown, residents are advised to stay calm and make the best of the situation by reading, planning, or organizing things offline.
