BSPC Protest: Case Filed Against Prashant Kishor, 20 Others For 'Inciting' Protestors In Patna

The FIR comes shortly after thousands of protestors, joined by Prashant Kishore at Gandhi Maidan, attempted to march towards the chief minister’s residence in the evening, prompting police action.

A case has been registered against political strategist-turned-politician Prashant Kishor following the protests by Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) aspirants in Patna on Sunday.

Manoj Bharti, the state president of Kishor's party Jan Suraaj, has also been named in the case. Officials have charged Kishor under several charges, including inciting candidates, leading them to the streets, and causing disruption.

The FIR comes shortly after thousands of protestors, joined by Prashant Kishore at Gandhi Maidan, attempted to march towards the Bihar chief minister’s residence in the evening, prompting police to take action.

Police used water cannons and mild force to disperse protesters demanding the cancellation of the BPSC exam held here on December 13.

The protesters also tried to jump over barricades while marching from Gandhi Maidan towards JP Golumber. The protesters gathered at Gandhi Maidan despite the administration's warning that any demonstration there would be considered unauthorised.

The district police has also registered an FIR against 20 others, including city-based tutor Ramanshu Mishra and 600-700 unknown persons for organising a gathering of students at Gandhi Maidan even after denial of permission by the authorities, Patna district magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh told PTI.

Prashant Kishore, who arrived in the afternoon and left after about an hour, criticised Chief Minister Nitish Kumar for going to Delhi on a private visit but having no time for the youth of his own state.

"They (government officials) have ensured us that the govt has agreed to discuss the demands of the aspirants and the five-member students' committee will meet the chief secretary right now to decide over the demands of the aspirants. If the aspirants are not satisfied following the meeting with the chief secretary, then a decision on further protest will be taken tomorrow," Prashant Kishor said as he joined the BPSC aspirants during their protest at Gandhi Maidan in Patna.
