BJP Leader's Son Marries Pakistani Woman Online, 'Baratis' Enjoy Nikah On TV Screen

The groom was unable to obtain a visa due to the ongoing political tensions between the two neighbouring countries.

A year after Seema Haider left her husband in Pakistan for her lover, Noida's Sachin Meena, a BJP leader's son married a Pakistani girl through an online 'nikah' in Uttar Pradesh's Jaunpur. Tahseen Shahid, a BJP corporator, arranged the marriage of his elder son, Mohammad Abbas Haider, with Andleep Zahra, a resident of Lahore.

Shahid gathered with 'baraatis' at an 'imambara' where the guests witnessed the ceremony on TV screens. Shia religious leader Maulana Mahfoozul Hasan Khan explained that in Islam, the woman's consent is essential for 'nikah' and she communicates it to the maulana. He said an online 'nikah' is possible when the maulanas from both sides can conduct the ceremony together.

Groom Couldn't Get A Visa

The groom was unable to obtain a visa due to the ongoing political tensions between the two neighbouring countries. The situation became even more challenging when the bride's mother, Rana Yasmin Zaidi, fell ill and was admitted to the ICU in Pakistan. Shahid decided to conduct the wedding ceremony online.

The groom expressed hope that his wife would get her Indian visa without any hassle.

The BJP leader had arranged the marriage of his son with his relative Andlip Zehra around a year ago. He had applied for a visa at the High Commissioner for the marriage. As the wedding date came closer, his anxiety grew because the visa was not issued.

Seema Haiden And Sachin Meena's Cross-Border Love Story

Seema Haider sneaked into India along with her four children to marry Sachin Meena, a resident of Uttar Pradesh's Greater Noida. She came into the country last year while she was still married to her first husband Ghulam Haider. They became friends over the online game PUBG and claimed to have tied the knot in Nepal last year.

Haider and Meena were arrested by Noida police on July 3 last year under Section 14 of the Foreigners Act and IPC Section 120B (criminal conspiracy), for illegally entering India without valid documents. The two were released on bail on July 7.

Haider's former husband had moved to a Noida court through an Indian lawyer, accusing her and Meena of cheating. He also challenged his children's alleged religious conversion.
