Bihar Ayurvedic Practitioner Seen Performing C-Section Without Gloves Or Mask, Sparks Outrage

In a deeply disturbing incident that has sparked widespread condemnation online, an Ayurvedic practitioner was filmed performing a caesarean section under shockingly unhygienic conditions in Bihar’s Siwan district.

The woman, identified as Kanchan Kumari, is seen in a now-viral video conducting the procedure without wearing a surgical mask or gloves, as onlookers — some in everyday clothes — crowd the room, filming the operation.

In the viral video, a man can be heard saying in Hindi, "She is my aunt Kanchan Kumari and is performing a C-section. The mothers necessarily give birth to boys when she performs the procedure.”

A gynecologist, who can't even spell the word "gynecologist" correctly, is performing a C-section in what appears to be a storage room, with zero regard for universal safety protocols or infection control.

As the video continues, Kumari can be seen handling surgical instruments barehanded. There is no sign of sterilisation or standard safety protocol, with the setting resembling a makeshift room rather than a registered medical facility.

The patient’s relatives are also purportedly seen standing nearby in regular clothes, some even filming the procedure on their phones, while Kumari operates without a mask or sterilised equipment.

Meanwhile, the relative could be seen recording the video in the Operation Theatre even as the doctors performed the surgery.

The incident has received a massive backlash from the social media users. An X user, The Skin Doctor, said that a gynecologist, "who can't even spell the word 'gynecologist' correctly, is performing a C-section in what appears to be a storage room, with zero regard for universal safety protocols or infection control."

"The room is crowded with people in regular clothes, including the patient’s relatives, who are standing around and watching the procedure like it’s a live show, without scrubs, masks, or gloves," the post added.

Meanwhile, internet users also started posting a screenshot of Kumari's Instagram handle, where the bio read, “gynecologist and obstetrics.” 

A user wrote, "This situation is deeply alarming and highlights a severe breach of medical ethics and safety standards. Performing a C-section without proper sterilization, PPE, and in an inappropriate setting endangers the patient’s life." 

As of now, there has been no official word on whether local authorities have launched an investigation or taken any legal action against Kumari.
