Married Against Her Wish, Bhopal Bride Elopes In Film Style With Boyfriend From Reception Event

A bride in Bhopal eloped with her boyfriend from her reception event after being forced to marry against her will.

A bride in Madhya Pradesh's Bhopal eloped with her boyfriend in a full film-style manner from her reception event on Wednesday night. The bride, a resident of Ganjbasoda in Vidisha district tied the knot against her desire on February 18 to a Bhopal resident.

The groom's family registered a formal complaint against the accused and the police have launched an investigation into the matter.

Ashish Rajak and Roshni Solanki tied the knot in Ganjbasoda while the reception was scheduled to be held in Bhopal. For the event, the couple reached the venue in the city's TT Nagar area straight from a nearby beauty parlour.

After reaching the venue in a car, Ashish, his sister and Roshni's sister got down from the vehicle when a car zoomed past the road and stopped next to theirs, reported India Today.

A young man got out of the car, pushed Ashish's sister away and made the bride sit in the car before quickly fleeing the spot. Initially, the family thought it to be a case of kidnapping but a little later it became clear that Roshni fled away with her boyfriend Ankit.

TT Nagar police station in-charge Sudheer Arjariya told ANI that a hurdle was created for the bride after her farewell as all the tyres of the car in which they were supposed to return to Bhopal were punctured. The couple then reached Bhopal on the bus on which Baratis went.

"Yesterday, we received a complaint at around 9: 30 pm that a reception party was scheduled to be held at a venue located near Ankur School, Bhopal," said the police official.

"The groom told the police that upon reaching the venue for the reception, he came out of the car and the bride stepped down from the other gate. In the meantime, she sat in another car and escaped from the spot," he added.

"During the investigation of the case, when the police team reached Ganjbasoda late at night, it revealed that the bride was in a love affair with a man living in her neighbourhood. Her family members had forced her to tie the knot against her wish, due to which it is possible that she eloped with the same man," he said further.
