Bengaluru: Woman Forms Close Ties With Ex-Minister, Threatens To Leak Video Calls For Rs 20 Lakh Ransom; 2 Held
Bengaluru police arrested a couple for blackmailing an ex-minister as they threatened to release his video call recordings unless he paid Rs 20 lakh.
Bengaluru News: The Central Crime Branch (CCB) police have arrested two individuals accused of blackmailing a former minister and demanding money. The arrested are Manjula Patil, the president of the Kalaburagi unit of the Nalapad Brigade fan organisation, and her husband Shivraj Patil.
According to the complaint filed by the former minister’s son, the CCB police registered a case and conducted an operation, leading to the arrest of the accused near MG Road in Bengaluru on Saturday while they came to collect the money.
Details from the former minister’s son’s complaint reveal that Manjula Patil, who had introduced herself to the former minister over the phone a few days ago, developed a close relationship with him. Subsequently, their conversations extended through phone calls and video calls. Later, Manjula Patil and Shivraj Patil allegedly began blackmailing the former minister, threatening to make the video call recordings public if Rs 20 lakh was not paid.

Bengaluru: Woman Contacted Ex-Minister's Son For Rs 20 Lakhs Ransom
Additionally, three days ago, the accused met the former minister’s son, claiming that his father sent her offensive messages and demanded Rs 20 lakh to ensure that the messages are not exposed, as stated in the complaint to the CCB police.
DCP Srinivasa Gowda of the CCB informed that after registering the case, the CCB police arrested the accused couple today near Garuda Mall on MG Road in Bengaluru when they arrived to collect the money.
