Bengaluru: 6 Gelatin Sticks, Detonators Found In Bag Outside Bus Stand Toilet, Bomb Disposal Squad Dispatched

The police and bomb disposal squad recovered six gelatin sticks and detonators in an unattended bag at Bengaluru's Kalasipalya bus stand and neutralized the explosives.

A tense situation gripped the Kalasipalya BMTC bus stand in Bengaluru on Wednesday after six gelatin sticks and multiple detonators were found in an unattended carry bag placed outside a public toilet, triggering a swift security response.

The suspicious bag was first noticed by local residents, who immediately alerted authorities. Police personnel from the Kalasipalya Police Station, along with the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS), rushed to the spot and cordoned off the area. A bomb disposal squad was deployed to safely inspect and neutralize the materials, which have since been sent for forensic examination.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (West Division), S Girish, confirmed the recovery. "Six Gelatin sticks and some detonators (both separately)were found in a carry bag outside the toilet in Kalasipalya BMTC bus stand. FIR is yet to be registered," S Girish said, as per a report on PTI.

As a precaution, traffic movement near the bus stand was temporarily halted, and the premises were thoroughly searched. Fortunately, no injuries or property damage were reported.

The recovery of explosives in a crowded public space has raised serious concerns about security, and police have stepped up surveillance in the area. Further investigations are underway.

Last week, a series of bomb threats targeting educational and religious institutions across India sparked widespread alarm and urgent action from law enforcement agencies.

In Bengaluru, more than 40 private schools received alarming emails from an anonymous sender using the alias “Roadkill.” The messages claimed that TNT-based explosives were planted in black plastic bags hidden inside classrooms. Some emails also contained disturbing suicidal confessions and demands for media coverage, heightening the sense of panic among parents, staff, and students.
