Atishi's First Reaction After Becoming Delhi Chief Minister: 'Kejriwal's Decision To Resign First Such...'

In her first reaction after becoming the Chief Minister, Atishi attacked the central government for 'wrongfully' putting Kejriwal in jail for six months on 'false charges.'

AAP leader Atishi on Tuesday took over as the Delhi Chief Minister, immeditately after Arvind Kejriwal resigned from the post by submitting his resignation before LG VK Saxena.

AAP leader Gopal Rai said Kejriwal all the party MLAs have decided upon nominating Atishi as the new Chief Minister and Atishi has staked claim to form the government.

In her first reaction after becoming the Chief Minister, Atishi attacked the central government for 'wrongfully' putting Kejriwal in jail for six months on 'false charges.'

"False cases were imposed. The central government deployed one agency after another against him (Kejriwal). He was put in jail for six months on false charges. The Supreme Court not only give bail to Arvind Kejriwal, but also made strong comments against central agencies. They said that the central agencies are like a caged parrot," Atishi told reporters.

"They (Supreme Court) said that the arrest of Kejriwal was  wrongfully done and was a result of malice. If there would have been another leader or CM, he would have quickly gone and sat on the CM's chair," she added.

She further said that Kejriwal's decision to resign is first such decision in the democratic history of any country.

"But the decision that Arvind Kejriwal took, I don't think any other leader in the democratic history of any country or the entire world would have taken. He said that the Supreme Court's judgement is not enough for him. I need the mandate of the people of the Delhi," she added.

The new Chief Minister said Kejriwal's resignation was an emotional moment for the party and added that the people of Delhi are resolving to make the AAP convenor the CM again.

"Today Arvind Kejriwal has submitted his resignation. This is an emotional moment for the party and the people of Delhi...At the same time, the people of Delhi are resolving to make Arvind Kejriwal the chief minister again...Till the elections are not held I will be looking after Delhi and we have a stake claim to form government," she added.
