Assam Man Beheads Wife Over Domestic Dispute, Surrenders With Severed Head On Bicycle
In Assam, a 60-year-old man, Bitish Hajong, allegedly beheaded his wife, Bajanti, due to domestic disputes. He carried her severed head in a storage basket on his cycle to surrender to the police at Ballamguri outpost.

A 60-year-old man in Assam allegedly beheaded his wife over a domestic dispute and carried her severed head to surrender before the police. According to NDTV, Bitish Hajong used a sharp weapon to behead his wife, Bajanti, and carried the severed head in the storage basket on his cycle. According to the officials, the man then rode to the Ballamguri outpost and surrendered to the police. The visuals, according to the report, showed bloodstains on the cycle and the accused in custody.
The report also suggests that the accused is a daily wager in Chirang district. He beheaded his wife due to the domestic issues between them, reports NDTV, quoting sources in the police.
According to a neighbour, the incident occurred after the Bitish Hajong returned home from work on Saturday night. Both the husband and wife used to fight over petty issues every day.
NDTV, quoting the additional superintendent of police, has reported that the forensic experts have collected samples. The husband has been detained, and further probe into the matter is underway. ASP Rashmirekha Sarma also added that murder cannot be speculated.
"We have taken the body into our custody and sent it for post-mortem. Forensic experts have collected samples. We have detained the husband and further investigation is on. We cannot speculate about the murder," said Rashmirekha Sarma, Chirang Additional Superintendent of Police.
