Air India Express Begins Operations From Hindon Airport Connecting Ghaziabad To Bengaluru, Kolkata, Goa

With the airline beginning its operations from the Hindon Airport, not just Delhiites, but people in western Uttar Pradesh and southern Uttarakhand will have a better access to other cities in India.

The people residing in Delhi-NCR will now have another convenient alternative to fly to other major cities such as Bengaluru and Kolkata, or their favourite tourist destination Goa, as Air India Express on Saturday commenced its operations from the Hindon Airport in Ghaziabad.

The first flight with nearly 70 passengers on board, took off from the Hindon Airport on March 1, marking a major milestone of development in the civil aviation sector. With the airline beginning its operations from the Hindon Airport, not just Delhiites, but people in western Uttar Pradesh and southern Uttarakhand will also have a better access to crucial cities in India.

Previously, the Hindon Airport offered flight services to Ludhiana, Bathinda, Adampur, Kishangarh, and Nanded, but now it will also offer services to Bengaluru, Kolkata, and Goa, starting today. These flights will be available daily.

Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu reached the Hindon Airport today along with Ghaziabad MP Atul Garg to flag off the first flight to Goa from Ghaziabad. BJP MLAs Ajit Pal Tyagi and Sanjeev Sharma were also present.

Following the inauguration, Union Minister Naidu stated in a post on X: "Inaugurated @AirIndiaX operations from Hindon Airport Ghaziabad, enhancing connectivity for NCR, Western UP & Southern Uttarakhand. With 40 weekly flights to key cities, this expansion offers greater convenience and economic opportunities. Flagged off the first flight to Goa with Hon'ble MP Ghaziabad Shri Atul Garg Ji."

Special Meeting On Approval For Parandur Airport Soon

In another development, a special meeting is set to held in New Delhi soon for the ‘in principle approval’ sought by the Tamil Nadu government for Chennai’s second airport at Parandur, Union Minister Naidu said on Thursday.

The Civil Aviation Minister said the ‘site’ for airport was identified by the Tamil Nadu government and that the Centre developed the project as it wanted more airports in the country.

"We are not the ones who select where the airport should be. It is the state government which proposes, selects, and asks for site clearance. Then we study the feasibility, the operation, navigation, and technicalities, the Minister told reporters at the airport here. So, any issue related to land lies with the state government," PTI quoted the Minister as saying.
