Ratan Tata, chairman emeritus of Tata Sons, one of India's largest conglomerates, passed away on Wednesday at the age of 86. The veteran industrialist, who had been in critical condition, took his last breath at a hospital in Mumbai. In a heartfelt statement, Tata Sons chairman N Chandrasekaran described Tata as his "friend, mentor, and guide," confirming the sad news.

"We are deeply saddened to bid farewell to Mr. Ratan Naval Tata, an extraordinary leader whose vast contributions have not only shaped the Tata Group but also left an indelible mark on the nation,” said Chandrasekaran.
