N Chandrasekaran Joins IMF Advisory Council On Entrepreneurship & Growth

The IMF Managing Director’s Advisory Council is scheduled to convene around once every three months for structured discussions conducted under Chatham House rules

N Chandrasekaran, Chairman of Tata Sons, has been appointed to the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) Managing Director’s Advisory Council on Entrepreneurship and Growth.

According to an IMF statement, this appointment is part of the organisation’s ongoing efforts to foster favorable macroeconomic and financial conditions that support sustained economic growth. IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva held an inaugural meeting with the new council members, including Chandrasekaran, who is also a member of the Reserve Bank of India’s board.

“The medium-term outlook for world economic growth is at its lowest in several decades,” Georgieva remarked, attributing much of the slowdown to declining productivity growth.

“The Council brings together a group of leading thinkers and practitioners in business, finance, academia, and policymaking to share their views and experiences on how macroeconomic and financial policies can provide a supportive environment for innovation, entrepreneurship, and productivity—key ingredients for a thriving private sector and strong economic growth,” she added.

The IMF Managing Director’s Advisory Council is scheduled to convene around once every three months for structured discussions conducted under Chatham House rules.

These discussions will play a key role in shaping the IMF’s analytical agenda and policy research. The insights gained will help guide macroeconomic and financial policies designed to boost productivity growth and strengthen medium-term economic prospects across the IMF’s member countries.
