Airtel To Exit Music Vertical, Shutter Wynk Music App. What's Next For Employees?

Bharti Airtel is set to exit the music vertical and close down its Wynk Music app, sources revealed. The telecom giant will absorb all Wynk Music employees into its broader ecosystem. "Airtel is planning to close Wynk Music in the next couple of months. It will absorb all the employees into the company," a source told PTI.
The company confirmed the move, stating that Airtel users will soon transition to Apple Music for their streaming needs. "We can confirm that we will sunset Wynk Music and all Wynk Music employees will be absorbed within the Airtel ecosystem. Airtel users will have access to Apple Music, and Wynk Premium users will receive exclusive offers from Airtel for Apple services," a company spokesperson said.

This decision follows Airtel's newly inked partnership with Apple, providing its customers with special offers for access to Apple Music. Furthermore, Airtel Xstream users will gain access to Apple TV+ content as part of a bundled offering, integrated with premium Airtel WiFi and postpaid plans.
"Airtel and Apple are natural partners who strive to bring excellence to customer experience. This partnership with Apple will provide immense value to our customers since they will now have access to the best content and entertainment globally," said Bharti Airtel's Chief Marketing Officer and EVP Customer Experience, Amit Tripathi.
The transition to Apple services is expected to roll out later this year, enhancing Airtel’s digital content offerings.
Meanwhile, IBM has reportedly shut down its research and development (R&D) operations in China as the company seeks to scale back its presence in the country amid growing geopolitical tensions. This move aligns with a broader trend among major tech firms reducing their operations in response to global challenges, according to media reports.
